Military Clothing – Line between Fashion and Military Clothing Continues to Blur
Military clothing is firmly entrenched within the psyche of the fashion conscious and, according to a report in the New York Times, the lines between military clothing and high street fashion are becoming more blurred.

The use of military clothing is, first and foremost, as a necessity in the training and carrying out of wartime activities but it has been impossible not to notice the extent to which military clothing has become popular in the field of high street fashion. According to the report in the New York Times, the massive influence that military clothing now has on civilian fashion is now so large that there was once an exhibition created at the Metropolitan Museum in New York which examined the use of military clothing in fashion and which was entitled, “Swords into Ploughshares: Military Dress and the Civilian Wardrobe”. It isn’t difficult to see why much military clothing has found its way into popular culture and high street fashion in particular. Military clothing strikes a chord with the fashion inclined due to its adaptability and clean cut and simplistic principles which really lend itself to high street fashion.

Military Clothing – Never Goes Out of Fashion
One of the principle reasons that military clothing tends to be so popular within the realms of high street fashion is that fact that much military clothing tends to be timeless. For the most part, it is military clothing that has been round for centuries that makes the biggest impression on the fashion industry with items such as navel pea coats being extremely popular in the winter months due to their capacity to withstand the elements and many leading fashion designers have created their own take on this type of military clothing. Another large influence that military clothing has had on high street fashion is in terms of the prevalence of khaki clothing, which is immensely popular in a number of different forms.

Military Clothing – Unquestionable Style
Whilst military clothing is, of course, created for functionality for those who are required to wear it for its principle purpose, it is unquestionably the case that much military clothing is inherently stylish and this is why it has become popular amongst civilian fashion fans. For example, bomber jackets and combat trousers are now firmly established as fashion favourites and both have their origins firmly in the field of military clothing.
