Description

This entry size bag into the personal load carrying equipment provides options to further enhance the capacity and accessibility of contents through its neat design. Through careful enhancements the Predator Patrol 45L rucksack has tried and tested features its predecessor the Sabre 45 litre learnt, with a more modern suited design to incorporate the MOLLE attachments for one

The Predator’s main fabric utilises KS100e which is an extremely tough 1000 denier nylon fabric which renders the surface tear/abrasive resistant and with the DWR coating provides exceptional water repellency when the heavens open. Note the Multicam version of this patrol pack is manufactured with 500D IRR (Infra-Red Reflective) fabric to provide concealment during nighttime conditions

The sides of the Predator Patrol 45L bag allows for separate PLCE side pockets to be added to provide further capacity - please note these are to be ordered separately

Excellent rucksack

The perfect rucksack for my needs. Superb fit and straps, and the simplicity of a big, single compartment is really useful. Useful for smaller activities too as it compresses nicely, and when going larger, separately-purchased side pouches add a lot of carry space.

Awesome bit of kit

Absolutely love it, straps, clips and loop holes everywhere.
After a couple of hours taping bits up and cutting the odd one off it is neat and tidy.
No problems carrying weight, I love the detachable hood and how securely it fastens.
Not that I should need to buy a new one anytime soon, but predator patrol is my new go to.
Might get a smaller size next.

Sabre vs Predator

Bought this to compare to the Sabre 45. Lots of people struggle to choose between them as did I so summary below.

Sabre:
A bit lighter.
Bit more comfortable (more padding on waist belt).
More of a civvy look.
Round bottomed (so won't stand up when placed on ground).
Top pocket in lid opens backwards (toward the shoulders) so items easily fall out if open when lid is opened.
Taller but less deep front to back. Possibly making loads feel lighter as nearer back (not significantly).
Generally more rounded look and packing.
No molle attachments. Some useful strong loops on the back but horizontal not vertical loops.
Both bags use the same excellent side PLCE pouches.
One robust grab handle between shoulder straps at top.
Top lid is not detachable and sits snug to main body of bag. Neat and tidy but doesn't allow much to sit under it.
Can't attach anything to bottom.

Predator:
Bit heavier (but once filled you wouldn't notice).
Waist belt is not padded. Not a massive deal but may be an issue on long hikes. Sits well on my hips and I'm 6'3 and thin.
Military look with all the molle.
Flat bottomed so stands upright well.
Top pocket on lid is larger and opens toward the back of bag (not shoulder strap side). This means things don't fall out if open when you open the main lid.
Main compartment is deeper front to back so fits more in despite the same litre specification.
Generally squarer.
Molle loops and attachments everywhere to all surfaces including top and bottom.
Elasticated side pockets (these get covered if side pouches added but stop flat stowed items falling through).
Can add same PLCE side pouches as the Sabre.
Two robust grab handles front and back for better more balanced for vertical lifting.
Top lid is detachable and can be cinched down over anything (roll mat etc.). Adjustments everywhere.

Like I said both bags are excellent. Lots prefer the Sabre but I think I prefer the Predator. Bit heavier, more going on but to me the stable ergonomics and customisability are more important. Feels more boxy and robust too as the lid straps are attached more securely but Sabre users never complain about any wear and tear so just personal preference. Sabre looks simpler and 'cleaner'. Predator packs a few more litres into the main compartment (I've found this is perfect for my kit whereas always looking for space for my last item in the Sabre).

I use both bags for camping/bushcraft. Not a fan of modern style Osprey type bags. These two bags are extremely well made, rugged, practical and well thought through.

Cheap for the quality and compared to the competition. And in my view better than the competition for my priorities.
