Excellent fit, even works in winter

After a long contemplation, finally pulled the trigger, and very happy.

First impressions: amazingly lightweight even at sz 12.5, very comfortable to walk and run in, and the A-forme last is spectacular, helps your toes splay out instead of putting pressure on them.

Impressions after a week in the field: You could and can go miles upon miles in these, including with a heavy combat load. Properly treated, the leather is waterproof, and even the tongue is fairly water resistant for your usual puddles, wet vegetation etc.

These will also work fine in dry snow and on icy ground as well, not at all as slippery as quite a few other makes of boots.

For slush & sleet & melting snow, the fabric tongue will let the wetness through, and you'll end up with wet cold feet even if rocking sealskinz or the like. On the other hand, they do dry quickly, but if your schedule looks like days on end in snow that's about to melt, consider another option. For all other conditions, these are really good.

Happy with the purchase, and my one complaint is about the lacing loops, which bend too easily. I had one bend outward and only noticed this in the middle of a week long field exercise. Sure, I might have had my laces really loose at that point, to make sure double or triple socks will fit, but it's an annoying thing, and sturdier metal should be used instead. That's costing these one star. Beyond that, highly recommended, and I hope to get years of field use out of these, on the civvie side, too.

Insoles

Terrible insoles, worse than the old G10 green cheese grater type.
Not too impressed about paying £190 for a pair of boots and then having to spend a further £30 on new insoles.
