Description
The Queen Alexandra's Royal Army Nursing Corps (QARANC) Metal Beret Cap Badge is a military insignia worn by members of the QARANC, a corps of the British Army that provides nursing services to the army. The badge features a silver metal laurel wreath surrounding a central red enamel disc, which is topped by a crown.
The laurel wreath is a symbol of victory and honour, while the crown represents the monarch and the authority of the British Army. The red enamel disc bears the corps' emblem, which features a white enamel Geneva Cross (similar to the Red Cross), with the letters QARANC inscribed on it.
The QARANC was established in 1949 and is named after Queen Alexandra, who was a supporter of nursing services in the army. The corps is responsible for providing nursing care to military personnel and their families in both peacetime and during conflicts. The beret and cap badge are worn as part of the QARANC uniform.
