Originally formed by Zachariah Tiffin in 1689 in Enniskillen, the Royal Irish regiment epitomises the valour and courage of the Irish and their motto Faugh A Ballagh derived from the Gaelic phrase for Clear the Way successfully transfers their position in combat spear heading most attacks
